The main international exhibition of Comicdom Con Athens 2022 celebrates 80 years of DC Comics' iconic Amazon
The main international exhibition of Athens’ immensely popular comics festival pays tribute to DC Comics’ Amazon. Arguably the world’s most recognizable superheroine, this iconic figure has transcended language barriers and age groups to leave her mark on generations of comics fans throughout the world, serving as a source of inspiration, emancipation and empowerment for millions of girls and women around the world.
The exhibition includes comics, objects, and original illustrations by an array of prominent artists who have drawn the character throughout its rich 80-year history. Among the works on exhibition are illustrations by the legendary underground comics artist Trina Robins, George Pérez, who revived and redefined Wonder Woman in the 1980s, Robyn Smith, and fan favorites Liam Sharp, Mark Buckingham and Brian Bolland. The exhibition also presents animations and original comic books featuring the inspirational heroine.
The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Cartoon Art Museum of San Francisco.
