Maria Voumvaki is a singer-songwriter. She studied piano and advanced music theory at the National Conservatory of Athens. In her songs, she combines electronic, art-pop, and pop elements with a narrative interpretation. She won First Prize at the Kalamata Song Contest (1991). Her first album, “Simultaneously in Cities and Waves” (1993), was released by Seirios Records, produced by M. Hatzidakis. This was followed by two more albums: “Farewell Rehearsals” (1999) and “The Terrain of Paradise” (2006), which includes musical settings of Greek poetry. Her songs have also been featured in various compilations. In recent years, she has composed music for theater productions, including “Felice and Lily” by E. Karasavvidou (dir. K. Polychronopoulou), “Splinters” by N. Rapi (dir. A. Michail), and “In Ibsen’s Country” by I. Kampanellis (dir. K. Polychronopoulou).
Dimitris Kamarotos studied composition, clarinet, and musicology in Greece and France. He has worked at IRCAM and at the Center for Contemporary Music Research in Greece. His music ranges freely from instrumental/vocal to electroacoustic/sonic works. He develops theatrical dramaturgy through music and sound design, collaborating with many directors (M. Marmarinos, L. Vogiatzis, V. Papavasileiou, among others) in over 200 productions. His works have been presented at the National Theatre of Greece, Epidaurus, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, as well as internationally at the Volksbühne, Avignon Festival, Comédie-Française, and other theaters and festivals. Recent recordings of his works include “Electromagnetic Landscapes – Intersonik Recordings” (2018) and “Aural Phase Alpha – 1tracktape” (2021).
