288 Stournara Street

Screening

Hellenic American Union Theater

The classic Greek film comes to the Theater of the Hellenic American Union for a single screening, marking the conclusion of the tribute to the Greek apartment building

Based on the eponymous play by Mimis Traiforos and Dimitris Vassiliadis, the episodic satire, first shown in Greek cinemas in 1959, will take us on an imaginary journey through moments and memories evoked by the exhibition “Polykatoikia.”

At 288 Stournara Street stands an apartment building with many units and unique residents. Over the days that unfold before us, we follow their lives, problems, habits, joys, and romances, as well as how life flows in an apartment building when it was still a new and rather charming concept. Dino Dimopoulos’ unforgettable film, featuring a host of Greek actors and musicians, serves as the perfect finale to “the ballad of Athens’ apartment buildings” created by Nikos Vatopoulos and Iris Kritikou.

The screening is supported by PAPANDREOU SA and the Collective Management Organizations of Intellectual Property Rights ATHINA, DIONYSOS, and ISOKRATES.
