Five distinct personalities and charismatic creators of a deeply textured way of thinking, seeing, and teaching engage in conversation with Iris Kritikou
“Personal Geographies” returns to the Hellenic American Union with a new thematic cycle titled “Individuals as Islands.” At the third meeting of the series, on Wednesday, February 25 at 18:00, Iris Kritikou will welcome Minas Mavrikakis as her guest.
In the new “Personal Geographies” cycle, “Individuals as Islands,” sensitive nuclei of gazes, ideas, and actions meet once again. They speak about the adventure and the fascinating process of reconstruction and creation and, above all, reveal their personal vision and outlook—ultimately directed toward the common good. They propose the individual capacity to produce creative or social work, as well as the possibility of reconnecting people, artworks, buildings, places, landscapes, and archives. They embody the strong personal will that can transform a reservoir of ideas into action and a life’s work with many recipients.
These are individuals with multiple identities, a deeply personal perspective, and a meaningful relationship with their audience—people who transform their experience, knowledge, and sensitivity into action, discourse, and social contribution. They become both method and landmark. Inhabited small “islands” of experience and accumulated insight.
At the upcoming meetings, Iris Kritikou’s guests will be Christos Papadakis (4/3) and Giorgos Rorris (11/3).
