What is the TOEFL iBT® test?

The TOEFL iBT® test measures your ability to use and understand English at university level. It also evaluates how well you combine your listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills to perform academic tasks.

How can the TOEFL iBT® test be used?

The TOEFL iBT® test can be used by:

How can I register?

You can register online anytime through the ETS® official website. If you wish to be examined at the Hellenic American Union testing sites in Athens or Thessaloniki, you have to register as promptly as possible in order to secure a seat.

When do I get my results?

  • Results are available online at the ETS® official website, approximately 10 days after your test date. Scores are mailed directly to the Universities or Colleges of your choice, unless you have canceled your scores on the test day. TOEFL iΒΤ® certification is valid for two years; after this period, it would be necessary to retake the test.
  • The Hellenic American Union does not have access to, does not make public, and does not maintain any record of candidatesresults. Candidates should address any such requests to the ETS®.

How can I cancel my test?

At the end of the test session, you will be given the option to cancel your scores. It is important to know that:

  • You cannot cancel your score for one section of the test.
  • No refund will be made.
  • There is no extra cost for score cancellation procedure.

How can I have my test rescored?

Within three months after your test date, you can request to have the Speaking and/or Writing section rescored. It is important to remember that:

  • Only one rescoring request per administration can be submitted.
  • The results of the score review process will be available online through the ETS® official website, approximately three weeks after ETS® receives your Rescoring Request Form and fee.

Who recognizes the TOEFL iBT®?

Many Universities, Colleges, Institutes, and educational organizations throughout the world use the TOEFL iΒΤ® in order to place students in graduate or postgraduate programs.

TOEFL iΒΤ® results are available online at the official ETS® website, approximately 10 days after the test date. The Hellenic American Union does not have access to, does not make public, and does not maintain any record of the candidatesresults. Candidates should address any requests to the ETS®.


Scores are based on the candidates performance on the questions in the test. Candidates must answer at least one question each in the Reading and Listening sections, write at least one essay, and complete at least one Speaking task to receive an official score. Candidates receive four scaled section scores and a total score.

There is no passing or failing TOEFL® score; individual higher education institutions and agencies set their own score requirements.

Rescoring

  • All TOEFL iΒΤ® rescoring requests are handled directly by ETS®. For further information you can visit the ETS® Official website.

Score Reports

TOEFL iΒΤ® official printed score reports are mailed directly to the Universities or Colleges of the candidates choice, approximately 13 days after the test date, unless scores have been cancelled on the test day. Candidates should allow 7-10 days after that date for mail delivery in the United States, and more time for mail delivery to other locations.



How can I apply?

Use this link to enter the ORFEAS online registration system. From there, follow the steps as suggested. Choose your exam, date and venue and then provide your personal details. In the last step you will be asked to pay with your card of choice. All the information you will need for the day of the exam will arrive in your inbox via email and SMS.

What if I have a question about the procedure?

If you have any questions about the procedure, even as you complete the steps in the process, contact us on 2103680000 for assistance. We have staff available from 9 am - 5 pm on weekdays to help you complete the registration process and answer your questions.

Can I see the status of my registration after I have applied?

Once you complete your registration you will be sent updates on the status of your application. For example, any changes to the date of the examination, if these occur, will be communicated to you via email, SMS or telephone by our support team.
