Douglas Walter

The vibraphone virtuoso Douglas Walter, in his one and only appearance in Athens, will perform at the Hellenic American Union well-known jazz compositions, as well as part of his personal work. He is accompanied by Alexandros Christidis (percussion & drums) and George Kostopoulos (contrabass).

Douglas Walter is Professor of Percussion at the University of Colorado. He is the only marimba and vibraphone artist to have won First Prize in the “Concert Artists Guild Competition” in New York. He has performed over 300 solo recitals in the United States and Europe. He is Principal with the Boulder Philharmonic, Colorado Music Festival and Sunriver Music Festival Orchestras. As a jazz musician,Walter has a rich jazz discography and holds four university degrees.
