The Last Temptation by Kazantzakis and its ‘Transfigurations’
Symposium on The "Last Temptation" by Nikos Kazantzakis and its adaptation to the big screen and the theater...

The analysis focuses on the theological background of this much disputed novel; the controversies that arose with its cinema adaptation and the reception by critics of its recent theatrical adaptation.
Panelists include: Marios Begzos (Professor of Comparative Religion, School of Theology, University of Athens), Angela Kastrinaki (author and Associate Professor, Department of Philology, University of Crete), Sotiris Chatzakis (director, actor and author), Yiannis Smaragdis (director) and Yannis Zoumboulakis (film critic, newspaper columnist for To Vima.)
The event also includes a parallel screening of Martin Scorsese’s The Last Temptation and an exhibition of archival material from the collections of Nikos Kazantzakis Museum. The symposium takes place on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Museum’s foundation.
