Ariel, the restored edition

Apr 15, 2013

A presentation of Sylvia Plath’s major poetic work, translated by Katerina and Eleni Iliopoulou, in cooperation with Melani Publications...

Sylvia Plath

Sylvia Plath became known after her death in the mid 60s, when her collection of poems Ariel was published. The original manuscript by Sylvia Plath differs from the poems published in the 1965 edition. This new edition of Ariel, is the exact original of her manuscript, restoring for the first time the selection and arrangement of her poems as she herself had done before her death. The edition also includes copies of all drafts of the poem "Ariel", thus offering a glimpse of Plath’s creative process, as well as notes on some of the poems by the poet for a BBC interview.
Speaking at the event will be: Phoebe Giannisi (poet), Katerina Iliopoulou (poet, translator) and Adrianne Kalfopoulou (poet, Professor of American Literature, Hellenic American University). Phoebe Giannisi, Katerina Iliopoulou, Patricia Kolaiti and actor Giannis Stankoglou will read Plath’s poems translated in Greek. Recorded poems recited by Sylvia Plath will be heard.
