Intensive English Program in the USA

Jul 2, 2006 - Jul 28, 2006

The Hellenic American Union (HAU) in collaboration with Saint Michael's College is offering its adult students the opportunity to participate in the Intensive English Program of Saint Michael's College.

Saint Michael's College specializes in Humanities and Social Studies and is located just a few minutes from down town Burlington, in the State of Vermont, where students from across the USA participate actively in student life. Saint Michael's provides an academic environment, in which the knowledge, experience, talent and energy of its academic and administrative staff can guide students towards their Higher Education goals. The experiences gained by the students in terms of US city-living form part of the academic Curriculum and offer students the chance to develop strong ties amongst themselves, strengthening their sense of belonging to a community.

If you like combining living in the countryside with living in a student town, then you will definitely appreciate the ideal location of Saint Michael's College, situated just outside Burlington, Vermont's biggest city. The Church Street Marketplace shops, restaurants and cafeterias and the live local music scene in Burlington offer unique opportunities for language practice and experiences through the College's Intensive English Program. Vermont, well known for its natural beauty and the wide scope of activities it offers throughout the year, forms a further incentive for many students wishing to take part in the Intensive English Program.

Intensive English Program
The Intensive English Program (IEP) meets the needs of adult students (over 18 years of age), who wish to improve their English language skills. The Program comprises five different levels, ranging from beginner to advanced classes. During the first session, students will take a placement test in order to be placed in the most appropriate level. Students who complete the program successfully will receive a certificate of attendance. The IEP runs in July for a total of four weeks. Classes are attended by a limited number of students. Six to fifteen are enrolled in each course.

All Hellenic American Union students, who successfully complete the Saint Michael's College IEP program will be able to skip a regular core program course (for example, a student that has completed course 320 may skip 330 and enroll in course 410). To be able to skip a course at the Hellenic American Union, students are required to submit the certificate of successful attendance granted by Saint Michael's College.

Program Features

  • Study assistance provided by University students (tutors)
  • Activities: students have the opportunity to take part in activities outside the academic curriculum in the afternoons and on weekends.
