Jiannis Tselikas

In his lecture, musicologist Jiannis Tselikas discusses the course of American art music in the early 20th century.

A concert follows with works for wind instruments and piano by American composers: Walter Piston, Leonard Bernstein, Andrew Rudin, George Gershwin, Robert Dick and Darius Millhaud. Participating musicians: Iwona Glinka (flute), Jiannis Tselikas (oboe), Grammenos Chalkias (clarinet), and Eleni Dafeka (piano). Jiannis Tselikas studied piano in Uwe Matschke’s class (National Conservatory), oboe in Claude Chieleut’s class (Athens Conservatory), counterpoint and fugue in Panagiotis Adam’s class (Atheneum) and is a graduate of the Music Studies Department, University of Athens. He is member of the Municipality of Athens Orchestra and teaches music at the Hellenic American University and the Ballet School of the National Opera House.
