Barriers
A photography exhibition by David Zimmerman in Thessaloniki, supported by the Hellenic American Union…

The Hellenic American Union will be participating in the Thessaloniki Photo Festival Contrast, supporting the exhibition Barriers by the American photographer David Zimmerman.
The walls are symbols of borders, as well as of boundaries/barriers. By photographing these walls, Zimmerman explores social, political and communal "walls” and obstacles.
David Zimmerman was born in Milwaukee in 1955. He works in New York and Taos, New Mexico. He began his photographic career with landscape, environmental and artistic works, as well as with photography projects for big companies. His most recent work includes photographs of the deserts of the Southwest U.S., for which he received the Sony World Photography Awards L'Iris D'or 2009, photographs of the Salton Sea in Southern California and the River Ganges in South India. His work can be found in numerous private and museum collections. He has held 17 exhibitions in America, Canada, in many European capitals and in Asia. His works have appeared in 22 publications devoted to photography.
