My Name is Europe
Presentation of "My Name is Europe", the new book by Gazmend Kapllani…

The Hellenic American Union, in cooperation with Livanis Publishing Organisation, presents Gazmend Kapllani’ s new book, My Name is Europe.
This is Kapllani’s second book, and its subject oscillates between fiction and reality. It is the second volume of a trilogy “in progress” regarding migration and identity. An aged Albanian, emigrant for half a century, returns to Tirana in 2041. The basic narrative is interrupted by testimonies of second-generation immigrants –not only from Albania, but also from Sudan, Kenya or Nigeria– who still do not have the appropriate “credentials”, as well as by confessions of younger and older people who either have fulfilled their dreams or are struggling for their own “positioning” in Greece.
Gazmend Kapllani was born in 1967 in Albania. He migrated from Albania to Greece in 1991. He holds a BA in Philosophy from the University of Athens and a Ph.D. from Panteion University. From 2001 he has been working as a journalist for the newspaper Ta Nea. His first book Small Diary of Borders was also published by Livanis Publishing Organization and has been translated into English, Polish and Danish.
